Example: Elden Ring (41/46)
Let's pause for a moment and think about it, on some simple example stories and questions. Remember the Elden Ring? Go back in time and that's just another souls-like game, with tons of bugs, issues, and re-use of content. Could any of us believe that the game will become so successful? Getting close to 800k reviews by the end of 2025, ending up in top 10 games by amount of reviews? To remind you - before that game, souls-like was considered "hardcore" game for niche audience. Even developers themselves had no idea about why it became such a massive success, producer said "We still haven’t been able to analyze why so many people play the game, and we have no idea why it’s selling so well..." and Miyazaki himself said "If I only take on selected pieces of feedback, it might affect my future decisions as a developer, which I find rather unsettling," he said. "I know that I personally could not be fully objective, so I try to avoid being directly exposed to too many opinions." And they created a sequel - Nightreign - which is a full re-use of assets (for a full price game), but rebuilding the core gameplay into some type of roguelike, when 1. people are constantly downvoting other games for being too expensive for not many differences, 2. Roguelike is considered somewhat of an "overused" genre. And it gets massive success (but obviously, not even close to original game). Like, honestly, if I told you somebody released a gamemode for a full price + Deluxe edition with DLCs - would you believe me that this game gets 83 / 87% positive (all / English)?
