Monster Hunter Series (3/46)
So one might think that it's really the developers who are getting worse, and it's "clear" that games before were better made and therefore better received. In the past, developers were true enthusiasts, who believed in what they did, and now it's all about money, they don't even polish games. Let's start with a brief overview of how game ratings change over time, which did worse than expected and compare them to their predecessors first. Here is the chart of first 6 months of three Monster Hunter games: Worlds, Rise, Wilds. We see an interesting fact here: Even though World (2018) started at its lowest of 40%, it went over 65% within the first 6 months, and now stays at 87% and keeps growing. Rise (2022) at the same time started decent and stable at ~88% peak, and slowly lost its rating to ~86% over the 6 months and now sits at an 81.5%, slowly decaying. Wilds (2025) started even better than World, and did better over the first 4 months staying at ~60%, but then lost it down to 50%. Right now Wilds sits at 45.48% and it keeps getting worse.
