Why Distorted? (38/46)
Finally! I am just as excited as you are to finally reach this point. Let's accurately start building all of that into a concept, crystallizing the idea. So, why feedback becomes distorted? Because: Nostalgia distorts our view of things. We are comparing new games to memories about old games, not to the old games themselves. Economic factors such as price and affordability affect our perception of "value" for a given price. Overflow of options makes us, players and developers, "picky" and "tunnel-visioned" on specifics of the games, polarizing our sentiment. Negative and positive "media content" leans us towards one or the other, looping the feedback. People who played a game for a couple of minutes can leave reviews, practically just replicating the "media" and they make up a large portion of reviews. Algorithms are given all of that biased information and exaggerate the effects, recommending games to people who by default will not like them.
