Oh, the good old days. Technologies grew at an insane pace, CPUs were getting obsolete in 2 years, glorious RTX 1080 Ti, revolutionary Crysis 3 graphics, crazy Battlefield 3 destruction, animations from GTA IV, creativity of Minecraft... Yeah, it was great and games seem to be stuck in progress since then. But do they? We all know the phenomenon: people tend to romanticize the past. Negative emotions seem to wash away over time and positive emotions are more likely to stay. The picture of things that we remember is never actually what we had, but rather a simplified reconstruction of biased emotions we had. And what is important, it is a reconstruction made by "current" us, with all of the accumulated experience. But maybe graphics progress was really stuck for the last decade? Let's take a look at some "old" games screenshots here: Witcher 3 Battlefield 1 Dark Souls 3 Crysis 3 We don't see that much progress in graphics compared to modern games. Sure, it was less sharp, detailed and realistic, but it wasn't that bad.
