Storm that is approaching (43/46)
And now, things ... Get worse. Much worse... You heard about so-called "agents", right? That AI thing that uses tools to interact with your PC and internet. That thing that now has browser extension, and can press buttons on the screen and read text. That thing that can be run in parallel 24/7 no rest, writing reviews, receptions, doing searches for you, forming recommendations for you, or even buying games. Let's imagine it finally getting to somewhat stable, somewhat popular (across common users) state, to feel the Trap of Dissociated Feedback we are in. There are several parts to that that I want to cover: Imagine most of your traffic, searches, attention coming from automated systems, which have no centralized control (because every prompt is somewhat unique). We lose accuracy and understanding of early-attention completely. Imagine big portion of purchases and reviews being auto-processed - We lose accurate understanding of "qualitative aspects" of our games, taken from feedback. Imagine exponential growth of AI-assisted development, resulting in even more games on the market, and even more decent-quality games (and of course way more low-quality). Where every trend metric-based analysis gets rapidly supported with hundreds of similar games. Imagine AI systems starting another branch of a feedback loop, promoting games that they, themselves suggested. And I gotta tell you, that is not as far in the future as one can expect. Now imagine - when all of your feedback is getting Dissociated, do you really think our way of measuring success will be productive? And what if this future is already there, but we are still in this Trap?
