Why Dissociated? (39/46)
And why we are calling it Dissociated Feedback? Because it is dissociated from the actions and loses predictability: We see our common-sense expectations are breaking, seeing many of the most-wishlisted games facing low attention, or high critique. Negative rating can still produce high sales (Battlefield 6), or can affect the sales in a tragic way (Civilization 7). Players are still playing the game which they left a negative review, sometimes resulting in a long negative tail on the playtime-positivity charts. "I hate this game" reviews from 5000h players. Players are expecting and waiting for new games to be released, yet playing old titles, regardless how good was/is the perception of an old title. Games are rated not only on how they are played, but also, for example, how entertaining it is to watch - resulting in "for streamers" type of games getting high attention and rating, so in this sense, it dissociates from "players". We all, to some degree, build-up an over expectation on how good a game should look, as if we know it can happen. We all believe, to some degree, that things can be solved all at once, if... AAA Developers might focus too much on "production quality", whereas "indies" can focus too much on unique mechanics. And those expectations will form our final sentiment of the review.
