Why the Trap? (40/46)
And why is it a Trap? Because players end up disappointed, and developers are struggling. Developers can get over-ambitious (BF6), fixing 95% problems of the previous title, yet adding 10% more, and getting rapidly decreasing CCU and positivity of the reviews. Players can get over-excited towards "nostalgia" feelings and whatever marketing prepared for them, or, lose a game they would really enjoy, because others felt different. Investors might get trapped by similarity patterns, metrics analysis, or even putting money into unrealistic ideas from the start. Publishers can get over-reliant on initial perception, like wishlists, sometimes even optimizing for early performance of the games. So, Trap of Dissociated Feedback is a mechanism or a problem where feedback becomes highly distorted, to the point where it completely dissociates from the source, leading to substantial mistakes in decision-making and strategy.
